--------------------------------------------------------------------------- Since two people have asked about massystems now, I'll just post the info: massystems (Multiple Arcade System systems - this name seems, uh, redundant...) is a company that makes Super Guns, custom arcade-style joysticks for home consoles, arcade cabinets, does Neo-Geo conversions (i.e. so that the home console will play like the Japanese or arcade versions), and sells arcade PBCs for use in their Super Guns. The prices are high compared to what you see in the auction lists posted here ($450-$525 for a Super Gun, $845 for a 25" RGB monitor sans cabinet, cheapest boards are $85) but if you can't wait for an item to show up here, or can't make it to an auction, you might give them a call. They do have games like Defender, Stargate, Robotron, and Joust in their list of PCBs (all $165 each), but I assume these are just boards w/o marquees or controllers, since they're intended for use in massystems' Super Guns. Anyway, they have an ad with all this stuff in the latest GamePro (Oct. '94 - Sonic and Tails on the cover - p.113) and their number is 714-831-5760. I was happy to see that they're selling Aero Fighters for $550, since that's one of the games I'm getting tomorrow - in a cabinet - for $300 (which I know is already expensive, but I don't live near any auctions, and this is being delivered right to my apartment for me), so I didn't feel like I got a bad deal on it. Hope that helps! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you have a Sanyo monitor without the inverter board, there's still a way that you can use it with positive video. As a matter of fact, the monitor was originally designed to accept positive video but was modified by the removal of a small handful of components and the installation of a few jumper wires. To convert the Sanyo monitor to accept normal, positive video: 1. Remove the wire jumpers that have been installed in place of transistors TR201, TR202, TR203. 2. Remove R213, R214, R215. 3. Install the following components: a. R201, R202, R203 100K b. R210, R211, R212 100K c. R213, R214, R215 820 ohm d. R217, R218, R219 560 ohm e. TR201, TR202, TR203 2SC1815 or equiv. f. C202 220uf 16V g. D210 1N4004 Pretty simple, huh? To make things even easier for you, a complete kit of parts including a schematic diagram and step-by-step instructions is available from Zanen Electronics 3109 2nd. St. Lubbock, TX 79415 (806) 793-6337. The cost is just $4.95. Ask for kit number 910. It's a great deal so go back into the shop right now and look at those Nintendo monitors you have sitting on the shelf. If they're Sanyo, you should be able to use them in just about any videogame. A entire video inverter board is also available from Louise's Harness Shop 712 County Road 58 Prattville, AL 36067 (800) 365-1941 FAX (205) 365- 4435 It's called the Color Conversion PCB and sells for just $22.00. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- PCB Goldmine: I don't have time now to type in the list.
