Phototransistor

Used to detect change in the light emission from a mini lamp

An analog device, configured to operate like a digital sensor
o When the device is saturated with
    light, the emitter yields current a
    logic high signal is sent
o When there is little or no light a
    logic low is sent

Infrared Detector Module

Used to detect a break in the infrared emitter beam

Outputs logic low when it detects an infrared signal in the range of 35 to 41 kHz
